Reliance Hexham was honored to win the Best WHS Improvement (SME) Award for our custom built test track.

Lauren Meldrum, HSEQ Manager, and Jeremy Cooper, Mechanical Engineer, represented Reliance Hexham at the awards night and Jeremy, who led the project, accepted the award on our behalf.

The winner of this award is a Hunter business (with less than 100 employees) who best describes/demonstrates their improvement to WHS  and it’s impact on people and business.

In an effort to improve the safety of drift conveyance commissioning on mine sites, we have built a full-scale, custom test track to conduct the required verification testing on Emergency Braking Systems.

Traditionally conducted on the mine site, this test track allows the testing to be conducted in a safe, controlled environment prior to being delivered to the customer site. Thus, improving safety, reducing customer and equipment downtime, and providing confidence in the performance of the Emergency Braking System.

Reliance Hexham is very proud of our HSEQ Manager, Lauren Meldrum, who took out the Young WHS Leader of the Year Award for the second time.

This award recognises the decisions and actions that young leaders make to prioritise safety in the workplace.

Lauren first won this award in 2017 and has been instrumental in building a positive workplace culture, resulting in increased understanding in the importance of health and safety and a more engaged workforce.

Lauren has a real passion for health and safety and used her acceptance speech to thank everyone who was contributing to safer workplaces for the future.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners at this years’ awards. We look forward to another great event next year.
